Welcome the Counseling And Wellness Center
The Counseling And Wellness Team at New College of Florida strives to support a thriving student body and transformative college experience that connects students with themselves, the community, and the world by providing culturally sensitive, empirically supported, and progressive programming. Our holistic wellness philosophy is the foundation for all of our services.
As a member of the Division of Student Affairs, the Counseling And Wellness team will advance the liberal arts education of each New College of Florida student by creating a thriving and transformative student-centered learning environment and inclusive community that connects students with themselves, the community, and the world.
Our Holistic Wellness Philosophy encompasses a multifaceted approach to living, engaging each domain of wellness for growth and healing. We believe that individuals are more important than any function they may serve. Further, integrative approaches assist in the development of the individual and community. Balance in life, resilience, competence, and healthy relationships are critical to this end.
Domains of Wellness
The Counseling and Wellness Team is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all students. We provide culturally competent services to the campus community in the multifaceted aspects of diversity. We strive to understand and explore the intersection of diversity, environment, emotions, and health. As a staff we are multicultural, multidisciplinary, and multitheoretical and understand how the intersectionality of identity, experience, and academics can lead to success. We work to help the NCF USFSM communities facilitate awareness, knowledge, and skills related to diversity. The Counseling and Wellness Team strives to support a campus community where all students feel safe and affirmed.
We provide services in consideration of the individual as a whole and emphasize emotional and physical well- being, as well as academic concerns. A Wellness philosophy is the foundation for all services and programs. Our belief is that Wellness helps students be more responsible for their lives and to understand the factors that affect their well-being. Students are more resilient to meeting demands and challenges when they make informed and reflective decisions.Counseling Services
